In 2016, an updated and expanded version of ISO / TS 16949 was published under the new name IATF 16949. In addition to the already known requirements for the quality management system of an organization, a more detailed evaluation of the software development is required. The reason for this is that more and more functions and functionalities in modern vehicles are determined by software-based systems. As an example of an audit of these areas, the IATF 16949 mentions the models "CMMI" and "Automotive SPICE®". The latter has been established and enforced in the automotive industry for many years, so that the question of the right choice no longer arises. But what influence does the result of an Automotive SPICE® Assessment have on future QM certification? Is it even possible that an organization that can not prove its maturity on this model can get or maintain this certification? What are the overlaps and differences between the Automotive SPICE® world and the "remaining" quality requirements? As part of a workshop, our Process Fellow Bernhard Sechser together with Mr Nobert Haß - IATF Oversight Manager and Deputy Head of the VDA QMC - and two representatives of Bosch - Ralph Mayer and Uwe Wiegand - discussed and worked out these and other questions with the participants to provide both IATF / VDA auditors and the Automotive SPICE® assessors with a guide on how to meaningfully incorporate and evaluate each other's quality world. The interest was great to keep working on this topic based on the results of this workshop.
